Behavioural models
Validated models of the equipment, replayed on recorded data to test a candidate cause.
A behavioural model describes how a piece of equipment should behave: a pump's flow and pressure from its speed and valve positions, a tank's level from its inflows and outflows. BooleX replays a validated model on the inputs recorded around a stop and compares its prediction with what was measured. Healthy and degraded variants (a worn impeller, a fouled heat exchanger) show which explains the data best.
In an answer
- Model replay under a candidate cause says "the model supports this cause", "the model does not support this cause" or "the models disagree".
- The replay is cited as
mdl://and opens in the source viewer: the measured series solid, the prediction dashed with its uncertainty band, labelled Model prediction, not a reading, with the mean residual and the share of samples within the band. - A model never replaces a reading. It is one more piece of cited evidence, and the candidate keeps its own checks for a person to carry out.
The library
| Equipment | Models |
|---|---|
| CIP and dairy (bench) | tank mass balance, centrifugal pump, return pump, heater, on-off valves, transmitters, separator, evaporator |
| Sector demo packs | servo axis, conveyor, chiller, generator, wind-turbine pitch, dosing pump, wet well and pumps |
| Your own | An FMU (FMI 2.0 or 3.0 co-simulation) exported from the equipment maker's or your own modelling tool, run in the isolated model runner (no network, read only, 1 CPU and 512 MB) |
A model is code plus a record in the site's models/ folder that binds its inputs and outputs to your tags and states its parameters and uncertainty. A record version never changes; a change makes a new version, so every cited mdl:// still opens.
Validation
A model is used only after it has passed validation against healthy runs of your own plant: at least three runs; in each, for every output, at least 95 % of the samples within the stated band and the mean residual within half the band. A run used to fit a parameter cannot also validate it. Only an expert or administrator can mark a run as healthy.
A model whose validation is older than the code or the last parts change on its asset is not used, and BooleX says "no validated model". With residual monitoring, a model whose validation is older than 90 days is listed as Model needs revalidation.
