Training mode
Replaying a past stop with the cause hidden, then scoring the trainee.
Training mode lets apprentices and new technicians practise on the site's own history: a past stop is replayed with its confirmed cause hidden, the trainee names the cause, and the answer is scored against the one the site confirmed (REQ-ASST-073).
Turning it on
Training is off by default. An administrator sets training: true in site.yaml (see Site configuration) and restarts the Assistant. A Training button then appears in the top bar for every signed-in user. Where it is off, the screen and its API do not exist.
The training screen
The screen is labelled as training throughout: nothing done here is recorded as a diagnosis, work order, journal entry or KPI.
- Past stops lists the stops that have a confirmed diagnosis (see Diagnosis), by time. Their causes are not shown.
- Replay the stop opens one. The sequence of events is shown event by event, with the first sign marked: press Show next event, or Show all events. Each event carries its source ID, so the trainee can open the same records an engineer had at the time.
- Under Your diagnosis, the trainee writes what caused the stop and presses Submit diagnosis.
- The Result is Pass or Not yet, with the reason, then the Confirmed cause, its sources and the Fix recorded.
- Your results lists the trainee's own attempts.
How an answer is scored
Scoring is fixed and repeatable; no language model judges it. A diagnosis passes when it names a device the confirmed cause names and, where the confirmed cause names a failure mode (for example a blocked filter or a failed sensor), the same mode. When the confirmed cause names no device, at least half of its key words must appear in the diagnosis.
What is kept
Attempts are kept apart from the plant's records, per trainee, in the training store on the edge PC (/data/training.jsonl). Training reads the history through the same read-only tools as a diagnosis and never touches the plant.
For practice on recorded faults rather than the site's history, the bench and the sector demo packs replay faults too: see Demo plants.
