Restore a backup
Bring an edge PC back from the daily backup, onto the same or a replacement PC.
A restore loads one backup into a freshly migrated, empty store. It refuses a store that already holds data, and a backup whose files do not match their SHA-256 hashes in its manifest.
Prepare the edge PC
Install the same release as the backup was taken on (Installation), with the site's deploy/secrets/ copied from the site's own safe keeping.
Restore the configuration
Copy the backup's config/ folder back to deploy/config/. It holds the profile, users, directory, model and integration settings.
Start an empty store
docker compose -f deploy/compose.yaml up -d db migrate
migrate creates the empty schema and database roles. Do not start ingest yet, or it will write new data into the store first.
Load the backup
docker compose -f deploy/compose.yaml run --rm backup python -m settings.backup --restore /backup/boolex-20261103T020000Z
It prints the number of rows restored per table. The audit trail is restored as it was.
Start everything and check

On Knowledge gaps, the code, documents and work orders show their original import times. Ask about a past stop and open its citations. Then restore the assistant's data volume (feedback, journal, photos) from the site's own volume backup, if you keep one.
