Languages and themes
Answer language, interface language, and the light and dark themes.
Answer language
Each account has an answer language, set when the account is made (python -m edge.users add NAME ROLE --language pl). Answers are written in that language; source IDs, tag and alarm names, and quotes from the plant's sources stay exactly as they are. English is the default.
| Code | Language | Code | Language |
|---|---|---|---|
| (none) | English | nl | Dutch |
pl | Polish | pt | Portuguese |
de | German | cs | Czech |
fr | French | hu | Hungarian |
es | Spanish | ga | Irish |
it | Italian |
Interface language
Every label, message and help text of the Web UI is available in English and Polish, and follows the account's language (pl gives the Polish interface; any other gives English). The sign-in screen is in English. Plant data, answers and source text are shown as they come.
Themes
The Dark theme and Light theme button in the top bar switches between the two themes, for a bright shop floor and a dimmed control room. The choice is kept per user on the edge PC and applied at every sign-in, on any browser, for local and site-directory accounts alike (REQ-ASST-076). A new user starts in the light theme. The theme is part of the user's personal data: the privacy export lists it and erasure removes it (see Personal data).
The screens target WCAG 2.2 AA and are checked with automated accessibility tests in both themes.
Alarm priorities
Alarm priorities follow ISA-18.2 and are shown the same way on every screen (the sequence of events, the handover's alarm counts): as a word, a shape and a colour, so they read in greyscale and for colour-blind users (REQ-ASST-075).
| Priority | Shape |
|---|---|
| Critical | ◆ |
| High | ▲ |
| Medium | ■ |
| Low | ● |
Each priority colour has at least 4.5:1 contrast in both themes. Source IDs are shown as chips with their scheme (plc, doc, wo, ts, alm, dx, part, mdl).
Planned. Choosing the alarm-priority colours per site. Today every site uses the ISA-18.2 colours above.
